Cork: Your Latest Fashion Accessory

Rok Cork handbags

My New Year’s resolution was to surround myself with things that I love and that make my every day a little more special. Last month, it was fabulous Portuguese soaps. This month, my latest obsession is Rok Cork: a luxury brand of sustainable cork fabric accessories. It may come as a surprise to you that cork isn’t just for storing wine or making noticeboards! In fact, it makes a lightweight, waterproof and stylish material; Rok Cork has managed to combine fashion with functionality, and I’m here to give you the scoop on it.

Rok Cork luxe envelope clutchLet’s talk about why I’m such a fan:

Sustainability & ethics: Trees aren’t cut down to make cork fabric; only the top layers of the bark are removed and left to regrow on the trees, making it sustainable. They even have a vegan line! All Rok Cork products are 100% handmade in Portugal (yay!) where workers make fair wages and enjoy good working conditions.

Style: the bags are gorgeous! From elegant clutches to boho chic totes, this brand has something for every occasion. I’m pretty detail-oriented and love the finer details that go into these bags. All the compliments I get aren’t bad either… Oh, and did I mention Rok Cork has a men’s line?

Price: I’m a saver by nature, and struggle to justify expensive purchases. Rok Cork makes luxury items accessible to people who, like me, don’t want to compromise on ethics and style, but refuse to go into debt over an accessory.

Practicality: see video below
