Portuguese Gifts for Everyone!

I’m so excited that it’s December, which not only means Christmas is just around the corner, but that Christmas in Portugal is just around the corner! I like to get my Christmas shopping done early, so I’ve compiled a list of Portuguese gifts (in no particular order) to inspire you in time for the holidays.

Licor Beirão

I usually get a bottle of this Portuguese liqueur for Christmas and it makes for a fun alternative to the traditional bottle of wine. You can enjoy Licor Beirão on its own, in a cocktail, or even use it for cooking. Whatever you decide to do with it, its green bottle with red and white packaging make it perfect for the Christmas season.

Luxury Soaps

I wrote about this in January and I’m still obsessed with the soaps by Claus Porto and Phillippe by Almada. I love gifts that are both useful and pretty, and your family and friends will love them too.

Chocolate

It wouldn’t be Christmas without chocolate… and if you want really special chocolate, look no further than Chocolataria Equador! This particular gift is a bit mean, because you actually have to go to Porto or Lisbon to buy it, but this brand of chocolate (made in Portugal) has incredible flavors and gorgeous packaging. Christmas perfection!

Books

I hope my readers have time to read good old fashioned books in addition to my blog. For history aficionados like me, Neill Lochery’s Lisbon is a must-read. If you like travel and food, Nelson Carvalheiro’s The Portuguese Travel Cookbook has some beautiful photos and authentic Portuguese recipes.

Bordallo Pinheiro Ceramics

One of my favorite additions to the home this year has been my Bordallo Pinheiro ceramic banana leaf trays. But this traditional Portuguese brand has special Christmas lines! If you know somebody who loves beautiful ceramics and Christmas, you won’t need to look any further for the ideal gift for them.

There you have it! My hand-picked Portuguese gifts to make your Christmas shopping easier. Just remember, the best gift of all is to be with your loved ones – but if they happen to give you incredible gifts, you can love them just a little bit more! Feliz Natal!
