The 2016 Web Summit is in Lisbon

For all those whose businesses rely on tech, the only place to be this week is in Lisbon. This year’s annual Web Summit is set in my beautiful hometown and the city is buzzing with excitement! The conference is set to have 53,000 attendees, 7,000 CEOs, and 15,000 companies from 166 countries. That’s a lot of big numbers in a city of approximately 530,000!

Speakers include John Chambers (Executive Chairman of Cisco Systems), the CTO, CMO and CSO of Facebook, Sean Rad (co-founder and CEO of Tinder), Carlos Ghosn (CEO of Renault-Nissan Alliance), Werner Vogels (CTO of Amazon), Coca-Cola CTO Alan Boehme, and many others. Aside from big business figures, Web Summit will be joined by former prime ministers from various countries and high profile members from several NGOs. Names from the entertainment industry to make an appearance include Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who happens to be the Founder of HitRECord), Ja Rule, Tinie Tempah, Ne-Yo, Helly Luv and Shailene Woodley (co-founder of Up to Us). Among the high profile names are Portugal’s very own national hero and co-founder of DreamFootball Luís Figo, José Manuel Barroso (President of the European Commission 2004-2014), Rui Costa (board member of Portuguese football team Benfica), José Neves (Founder & CEO of Farfetch) and Luis Correia (CEO of Polaris Sports).

But the fun doesn’t stop at the conference! There’s a whole beautiful city to explore while you network and learn. So if you’re one of the 53,000 attendees who are on their way to Lisbon, I’ve condensed some key travel tips for you here.

1. What you need to know about arriving at Lisbon airport and what you can expect leaving the airport.

2. Key tips for your Lisbon trip

I wish all the participants an incredible conference and a great stay in Lisbon! Welcome to Portugal.
